Former Minister and Anuradhapura District MP and SJB District Organiser P. Harrison yesterday said that he would resign from all the posts of the SJB and rejoin the UNP to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe

Harrison told The Island that several more SJB members were to follow him to switch allegiance and join the UNP.

Harrison said he had decided to support the President as the latter had taken prompt action to mitigate the economic crisis and grant relief to the public.

He said that in another two months, half of the SJB would declare their support to President Wickremesinghe as the SJB members were not happy with the decisions made by its Leader Sajith Premadasa.

“I have been working as the Anuradhapura West Organiser for over 13 years and have contested many elections, under the UNP and the SJB. I entered politics in 1987 and started this journey, under former President Ranasinghe Premadasa. Till now I have worked under the leadership of Sajith Premadasa, but we cannot be satisfied with the actions taken by the party.”
