Air Force win National Water Polo title after 11 years

Sri Lanka Air Force clinched the title of the National Water Polo Championships after a lapse of eleven years.

The Sir Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) organized the event took place from November 18 to 20 at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool Complex.

The Air Force men’s team remained unbeaten to win the title.

They recovered from being 4-1 at the end of the first quarter to beat Old Thomians’ Swimming Club by nine to seven.

Leading Aircraftman R.L.K. Udayathra was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Officer Cadet U.I.O. de Silva received the award for the Highest Scorer of the championship.

Nethru Nanayakkara, the President of the Aquatic Sports Union, and Air Commodore Asela Jayasekera, the Chairman of the SLAF Aquatic Pool attended the awards ceremony.
