Roshen Silva struck a composed unbeaten 47 to rescue Colombo from a shaky 98 for 4 to 208 for 6 In reply to Dambulla’s 341 on the second day of the Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League encounter at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota on Friday. Colombo’s frontline squandered a fine 77-run start by openers Krishnan Sanjula 57 and Navindu Vithanage 46 following a double strike by 25-year old right arm medium pacer Lahiru who bowled Kusal Janith Perera for a duck and had Charith Asalanka caught by Jayalath for 4 before Roshen Silva rallied the side with the support of Navindu Vithanage. Upfront, Krishnan Sanjula struck 12 boundaries in his 81-ball innings, and Vithanage 7 boundaries in his 128-ball knock. Roshen Silva’s 125-ball stay included 3 boundaries as the right-hander dug in for the following day with Munasinghe crossing the boundary twice in his unfinished 31-ball stay in what has been a fine form run by the 21-year old former Nalanda College left-hander.

Dambulla added a further 44 runs resuming from an overnight 297 for 6 with Ashan Priyanjan, who was on 100, falling for 114. Colombo’s Himesh Rathnayake claimed 4 for 76.
