READY TO WALK THE TALK & WALK THE WALK AGAIN!

By Srian Obeyesekere

Unanimously re-elected for a record third term, an ebullient Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President, Shammi Silva and his team brought alive the show of strength the country’s cricket family – the clubs have reposed in them to deliver for the country on a new leash of further securing the game from strength to strength when they in no uncertain terms got back to the job on an auspicious and colourful note yesterday at the cricket board headquarters.

Indeed, in cricketing parlance it was a continuation of batting for their country towards that symbolic national slogan of ‘One Team, One Nation’ that knits together a 22 million nation in that passion that has rendered the noble game of cricket a stirring passion.

The new beginning in that new 2-year term in quest of new and bigger things to putting Sri Lanka cricket on a firmer footing from the past of having already financially secured the game’s administration on a whopping US $ 45 million therein magnified the race to further fulfilment of optimum national development was well on course. The cricket administration that has already walked the talk in resurrecting the game from a financial mess when self seeking administrators of the post-T halianga Sumathipala 2017 era had rooked the pot of gold, symbolised they were spot on to further fulfill the faith of the cricket clubs to putting further muscle to the game.

The momentous occasion saw SLC President Shammi Silva joined by his dynamic Hony General Secretary, Mohan de Silva, seasoned Vice presidents Ravin Wickramaratne and Jayantha Dharmadasa, Assistant Secretary, Chrishantha Kapuwatte, Treasurer Sujeeva Godaliyadda and Ex-Co Member Jsnaka Pathirana along with the dynamic Chief executive officer, Ashley de Silva, Cricket Operations Manager, Jerome Jayatatne and Manager, Administration, Aruna de Silva aming others
