Russia gifts Sunflower oil consignment to Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has received a stock of 352 tons of sunflower oil from Russia. The stock was received in line with the World Food Programme (WFP) project meant to assist Sri Lanka.
Addressing the gathering at Veyangoda grain store, Russian Ambassador Levan Dzhagaryan said that one of the purposes of the Russian Foreign Policy is to promote international cooperation in solving economic, social, cultural and humanitarian problems. In spite of challenges faced by Russia due to the unprecedented pressure of Western sanctions, we keep supporting friendly states. The Ambassador said: “Our aim is always humanitarian, our actions are based on the principles of respect of independence and non-interference in to domestic affairs. We never impose any conditions on aid- neither political nor economic.”
“We live in troubled times, marked by diseases, drought, climate changes and geopolitical instability. The only way out for nations is to come together, to collaborate where possible, to compromise where needed.”
