The Appropriation Bill for 2024 will be submitted to Parliament in the second week of October and the second reading of the budget will be presented by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Finance Minister on 13 Nov.

The debate on the Second Reading of the budget will be held from 14 to 21 Nov., and the voting on the Second Reading was scheduled to be held in the afternoon of the 21 Nov, State Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.

The vote on the Third Reading is scheduled to be held on 13 December.

After the adoption of the budget, it will become law by 27 December with the Speaker’s approval, and after 31 December, the allocation of funds for government expenses will be made through the new budget, the State Minister said.
