Sarath assures appropriate response
SLPP MP Sarath Weerasekera said that he would respond in parliament to MP Chandima Weerakkody’s criticism of his actions as Chairman of the Sectoral Oversight Committee.
Asked whether he accepted MP Weerakkody’s declarations pertaining to a letter he sent to State Defence Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon, MP Weerasekera said that he would counter what he called lies propagated by the former minister. The former Navy Chief of Staff said that interventions made by the US Ambassador were known and even President Ranil Wickremesinghe commented on those intrusions though MP Weerakkody seemed unaware of the ground situation.The former Public Security Minister said that he stood by the letter he addressed to the State Minister.
