Colombo-Katunayake highway 50% complete

The construction of the second highway, the Colombo-Katunayake highway, is 50% complete, the Deputy Minister of Ports and Highways Nirmala Kothalawala was quoted by the national news agency as saying.

With the completion of the 25.8-km-long road, the trip to the airport will be made in 20 minutes. The highway is expected to be competed and opened to the public by April 2013.

The 480-m-long flyover being constructed near Hunupitiya is one of the main features of the Expressway constructions, the agency reported.
