Court told about offences committed by Sri Lanka Mirror website
The Criminal Investigations Department has informed Courts that the Sri Lanka Mirror website had been engaged in offences under the Computer Crimes Act.
The CID made submissions to the Colombo Magistrate’s Court against this website on charges of publishing anti-state information. Some offences committed under the Computer Crimes Act had been revealed with regard to information secured from the seized computers. The CID further informed the Court that a report has been summoned from the Computer Faculty of the Colombo University. Ruwan Ferdinandes who is said to have served as a head of the related website appeared in Courts today through lawyers.
The Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna de Alwis who ordered him to give a statement to the CID, adjourned hearings for the 20th of this month.
