President instructs IGP to report on locations for new Police Stations and Posts
The President instructed the Inspector General of Police to submit a report on where new Police Stations and Police Posts should be established.
President Rajapaksa gave instructions to IGP N.K. Ilangakone to provide him with a report after making inquiries as to where new Police Stations and Police Posts should be established in the country. He has further instructed the Police Chief to take future initiatives based on the recommendations of a Special Committee that is to be established by the Defence Ministry to study the report. Population, crimes and the possibilities for the discharge of duties properly should be taken into consideration in deciding the locations where the new Police Stations and Posts are to be set up.
The President emphasized that the purpose of this programme is to provide a systematic and streamlined Police service.
