Navy provides assistance to Indian team
The Navy provided assistance to an Indian team on a salvage operation of two Indian fishing trawlers in the seas off Delft in the northern region yesterday, a senior official said today, (July, 14). The navy provided the assistance on humanitarian grounds following a request made by the Indian High Commission Office in Colombo, he said. The Indian salvage team consisting of eight boats and 62 crew members and escorted by Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajtarang was received by Sri Lanka Naval Ships Ranajaya and Fast Attack Craft P 418 on Friday at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), the official added. Thereafter, the Indian team was guided to the location for the commencement of the salvage operation under SLN supervision, he said.
