Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) leader Rauf Hakeem said his party is still with the government though they are separately contesting for the Eastern Province in the forthcoming provincial council election.
At a press conference yesterday the Muslim Congress leader said that majority of their party members wanted to contest separately for the Eastern Province.
“Our party had two options. First was to contest under the UPFA, under the same list; the second choice was for us to detach ourselves from the Alliance and contest independently. We discussed the first options for almost 2 weeks but we ultimately decided on taking up the second option”, he said.
