First Randoli Perahera of Kandy Esala festival held

The first Randoli Perahera of the Kandy Esala Festival paraded the streets.
First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa also participated in watching the first Randoli Perahera of the Esala festival. The Randoli Perahera that started at the auspicious time of 7.32 pm joined the Peraheras of the 4 devales and proceeded along Dalada Street, D.S. Senanayake St., E.L. Senanayake St. and Kings St. to re-enter Dalada Maligawa. The casket was carried by the tusker Nedungamuve Raja. Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela and the Nilames of the 4 devales participated in the Perahera. Members of the Adivasi community led by Uruvarige Vanniyalatto also watched the Perahera. The second Randoli Perahera will start at the auspicious time of 6.50pm.
