Minister Weerawansa calls on workers to refrain from causing damage to institutions

Minister Wimal Weerawansa has pointed out that it is the onus of every one to refrain from causing damage to state institutions capitalizing on workers’ rights.

The Minister pointed out that workers had the right to demand for a salary hike when the economy encountered challenges. He said that they not only accepted this right but also respect it. However, he emphatically stated that everyone is vested with the responsibility of exercising this right without causing harm to their institutions. He recalled that during the war, the Government did the utmost to increase salaries of workers in the budgets. Minister Weerawansa noted that the Government is dedicated to finding solutions to the problems of the people based on the economic growth.
The Minister was speaking at the opening of the newly built official housing complex for officials in Kolonnawa. The total expenditure incurred on the project was 35 million rupees. Another official housing complex which will cost 300 million rupees is also under construction in Kolonnawa. The Minister also launched the official website of the Government Factory.
