Amendments made to Grade Five Scholarship examination
Several changes are to be effected to the Grade Five Scholarship examination to grant the childhood to the children. Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said the clear focus on the syllabus will be the main criteria.
The Minister said that the children during their childhood attend schools nearby to their homes. But this childhood is being grabbed by the examination-centred education. The Minister said that the syllabus for the Grade Five scholarship has been amended and the required books have been printed. As such the parents are aware of the syllabus and the children will not be burdened more
The Minister was speaking at a ceremony organized to present Sisu Udana Savings Account books for children of members of the Employees Trust Fund, who had passed the Grade Five Scholarship examination. 425 students who excelled at the Grade Five Scholarship examination received gifts and certificates. Among those present was Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena.
