Elections Commissioner appoints a special committee to look into illegal practices

A special committee has been set up by the elections office to look into illegal propaganda work.
The committee will carry out observations covering all districts in North-central, Sabaragamuva and Eastern Provinces where the Provincial Elections are being held. The members of the committee will leave for their observation work tomorrow. A number of complaints have been received on exhibiting illegal banners and posters. At a discussion held with the Elections Commissioner, the Assistant Elections Commissioners called for the increase of offices set up to receive the complaints. Accordingly the Elections Commissioner has decided to increase the number of offices in the Anuradhapura District up to 5. The public has the opportunity to lodge their complaints at these offices without any prblem. The observers will urgently look into the complaints.
