The poll cards for postal voting will be mailed tomorrow. The Postal Department said that the distribution too will take place on the same day.
The Provincial Council elections of the eastern, Sabaragamuva and north-central provinces will be held on the 8th of next month. The Elections Secretariat has made arrangements to hold postal voting of the election on the 27th and the 28th of this month. Additional Elections Commissioner R.M.A.L. Ratnayake said that preparations have been made to hand over the relevant poll cards to the Postal Department tomorrow to be sent to the certifying officers. In case of inability to vote on the 27th the voters can exercise their votes on the 28th. He said that a team of officials from the Elections Department will be sent to the offices of the certifying officers. The representatives of the political parties and the observers can also be present. Special Police protection will also be provided.
Deputy Post Master General R.D.P. Gamini said that special arrangements have been made to start the distribution tomorrow.
He said that the sealed packages of poll cards will be handed over to the Postal Department tomorrow to be dispatched to the certifying officers. All necessary instructions have been issued in this connection.
Meanwhile distribution of official poll cards is successfully being carried out until 30th of this month. 28th of this month is observed as a special distribution day of official poll cards.
