President pays homage to Wishwa Shanti Buddha statue
The President offered floral tributes to the Wishwa Shanti Buddha statue.
The Wishva Shanti Buddha statue, venerated by devotees around the world was brought to Sri Lanka and placed at the BMICH premises for the Sri Lankans to pay homage. President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid floral tributes to the Buddha statue this morning. Floral tributes were offered to the Wishwa Shanti statue initially at the Temple Trees under the patronage of the President aspiring world peace. Thereafter the statue has been placed at the BMICH premises since the 8th of this month for public veneration. A large number of people arrived at the BMICH premises from all over the country. The statue is carved from a rare gem stone. After paying homage, the President exchanged views with the people who were present.
