Sacred Kapilawastu relics brought to Matara

The sacred Kapilawastu relics have been brought to Matara. A large number of devotees have arrived in Matara to pay homage to the sacred relics.

The sacred relics were airlifted to Matara after obeisance was paid to the relics at Sri Sumangala Pirivena in Wariyapola. The relics which were brought to the Sanath Jayasuriya stadium in Matara were taken to Kotikagoda Raja Maha Vihare in a special motorcade. Ven. Getamanne Gunananda Thera took the sacred relics from Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and placed them in a special casket. Ministers Dallas Alahapperuma, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Chandrasiri Gajadheera, Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Parliamenarian Sanath Jayasuriya, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge and Chief of Presidential staff Gamini Senarath also participated in the occasion. A long line of devotees was witnessed at the Kotikagoda Raja Maha Vihare. The exposition will be held until Wednesday. A special traffic plan is being implemented in view of the exposition. Several parking areas have been allocated for the convenience of the public. Special buses have been deployed for the people to reach the venue from those areas. Police say the devotees who reach the venue on foot should arrive at the Kotikagoda Raja Maha Vihare along Welegoda road from the Rahula junction. The organizing committee has called on the people to be attired in white.
