Thousands pay homage to sacred relics at Gangarama
The Gangarama temple has been filled with the resounding echo of Sadhu- Sadhu- chanted by the devotees who visit the temple to pay homage to the Kapilawastu sacred relics.
A long line of devotees was seen at the temple since the sacred relics were brought to the Hunupitiya Gangarama temple since last morning. A special programme has been launched for the smooth flow of devotees. Arrangements have been made to allow expectant mothers and disabled persons to pay homage without waiting in long queues. The sacred relics that have been venerated by hundreds of thousands of people were brought to Sri Lanka on a request made by the President to the Indian government. The relics will be taken to the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara on Tuesday. The devotees who visit the temple to pay homage have been provided the required facilities. Special train and bus services have also been provided. Members of the Maha Sangha have called on the devotees to be attired in white.(
