President participates in religious observances
The President has participated in religious observances at the Kotte Raja Maha Vihare.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Kotte Raja Maha Vihare last evening, inspected the preliminary measures with regard to the final Esala Perahera and participated in religious observances. Thereafter he called on the Chief Incumbent of the temple Ven. Aluthnuwara Anuruddha Thera. The final Esala Perahera of the temple paraded the streets last night. A large number of people were present to watch the Perahera which consisted of a number of elephants and cultural events.
Thereafter the President visited the Church of Our Lady in Matara and participated in the annual feast. Rt. Rev. Viani Fernando conducted the service and invoked blessings on the President. Incumbent priest of the Church Fr. Harsha Gunaratne, Ministers and Parliamentarians participated in the occasion.
