UPFA candidates receive highest number of preferential votes

The counting of preferential votes has ended. The UPFA candidates have received the highest number of preferential votes in 6 districts out of seven.

Mahipala Herath has secured the highest number of votes in the Kegalle district for the UPFA. Kanchana Jayaratne is leading the preferential list securing 64 thousand 203 votes. Candidates of the UPFA have received the highest number of preferential votes in both districts of the north-central province. S.M. Ranjith has received the highest number of  preferential votes in the Anuradhapura district which amounts to 105232. In Polonnaruwa district the highest number of preferential votes has been secured by P.B. Ratnayake who received 39107 votes.

Wimalaweera Dissanayake who contested from the UPFA in Ampara district of the Eastern Province has received  the highest number of preferential votes in the Eastern Province. He secured 31815. R.Thurairatnam of the Thamil Arasu Kachchi  received the highest number of preferential votes in the Batticaloa district amounting to 29148. Yudapani of the Ilankei Thamil Arasu Kachchi is leading in preferential votes in the Trincomalee district.
