UPFA comes to power in 5 out of 7 districts

The UPFA has come to power in 5 out of 7 districts in the 3 Provincial Councils.

The UPFA has come to power in Kegalle, and Ratnapura districts in the Sabaragamuva Provincial Council. It has gained 274980 in the Ratnapura district securing 15 seats. The UNP that has received 165440 votes has only 8 seats. Ceylon Workers Congress that has 17014 votes in their favour has secured only one seat. The JVP has not secured a single seat.

The UPFA has won 11 out of 18 seats in the Kegalle district. The total number of votes cast in their favour amounts to 213734. The UNP that has gained 134417 votes  has secured 6 seats in the Provincial Council. Ceylon Workers Congress that has secured one set has gained 8971 votes. The JVP has not secured a single seat in the Kegalle district.

The UPFA has come to power in Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura districts in the North-central province. The Alliance has received 234387 votes in the Anuradhapura district for which 13 seats will be allocated. The UNP has secured 7 seats for 124184 votes. The JVP which has secured 11684 has gained only one seat.

The UPFA has received 104 165 securing 6 seats. The JVP has not secured a single seat in the Polonnaruwa district.

The UPFA has come to power in the Ampara district with the highest margin in the province. The Alliance secured 92 530 gaining 5 seats. The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress gained 4 seats for 83658 votes. The UNP was confined to 4 seats with 48028 votes. Ilankei Thamil Arasu Kachchi has gained 2 seats with 44749 votes. The JVP has not secured a single seat in the Ampara district.

The Ilankei Thamil Arasu Kachchi  and the UPFA have gained 3 seats each in the Trincomalee district. While Ilankei Thamil Arasu Kachchi  has gained 44396 votes the UPFA has gained 43324 votes. The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has secured two seats for the 26176 votes. The UNP that has received 24439 votes and the NFF with nine thousand 522 votes have secured one seat each.

Ilankei Thamil Arasu Kachchi has gained 6 seats in the Batticaloa district receiving 104682 votes. The UPFA has 64190 votes in its favour winning 4 seats. The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has won one seat receiving 23083. The UNP and the JVP has not won any seats in the Batticaloa district.
