UPFA comes to power in Sabaragamuva

The UPFA has come to power in the Sabaragamuva Provincial Council with a wide margin.

The Alliance has won 28 out of 44 seats in the Provincial Council. The UPFA has won 488714 votes in the Sabaragamuva Provincial Council which amounts 59.18 percent. The UNP has won 286,857 votes amounting to 43.73, securing 14 seats. Ceylon Workers Congress that gained 25985 votes has secured two seats with the percentage of 3.15. It is a notable feature that the JVP has been unable to gain a single seat in the Sabaragamuva Provincial Council.  Only a lesser number of 12164 votes were cast in their favour. The public has given a landslide victory to the alliance, appreciating the programme of the government.
