SLFP expresses its gratitude to people

Sri Lanka Freedom Party has expressed its gratitude to the people for the confidence they have placed in the alliance without being misled by the allegations made by the opposition.

The UPFA led by the SLFP has been able to gain a historic victory in the North-central, Sabaragamuva and Eastern provincial Council elections. The government achieved the victory amidst the drought conditions prevalent in the north-central and eastern provinces. A communiqué issued by the SLFP says that the false propaganda spread  by the UNP and the JVP targeting the drought have been rejected by the  masses. It said that those parties did not present any programme for the welfare of the people despite this action. The government has presented numerous programmes for the betterment of the people. The communiqué said that the victory was possible due to the confidence placed by the people in the programmes of the government. None of the world leaders have been able to maintain the popularity gained by them in their first election in subsequent elections. But the popularity of the President indicated in the 2005 election was maintained in the subsequent elections. The results of the Provincial Council election have indicated that he is a historic leader. The SLFP expressed its gratitude to all people who placed their confidence in the government.
