Minister S.M. Chandrasena resigns paving way for his brother to become Chief Minister
Minister of Agrarian and Wildlife S.M. Chandrasena resigns from his Ministerial Portfolio, paving the way for his brother to secure the Chief Ministerial Portfolio.
Minister S.M. Chandrasena told ITN that THE Committee appointing Chief Ministers and Ministers informed him that his brother cannot be appointed as the Chief Minister as he is serving as a Cabinet Minister. The Committee proposed that if he could resign his brother can be appointed as the Chief Minister.
As such, he said that he tendered his letter of resignation to President Rajapaksa. He said he did so to safeguard the sovereignty of the people of the North Central Province. He revealed that his brother S.M. Ranjith would take oaths as the Chief Minister of the North Central Province on the 24th morning.
