Air services between Sri Lanka and Europe will be expanded. A new agreement has been signed providing for direct services between Sri Lanka and 14 EU countries.
The agreement was signed between Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the EU P.M. Amsa and EU officials in Brussels. The agreement will remove restrictions making it more beneficial to Sri Lanka. Approximately 520 thousand air passengers have traveled between Sri Lanka and EU states last year. So far 250 thousand tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka from Western Europe. The new air services are expected to increase the number of tourists arrivals from Europe benefiting the tourist industry.
