Lawyers condemn the assault on JSC Chairman
The lawyers associations have expressed their gratitude to the government for launching investigations on Presidential orders into the incident which violates the independence of the judiciary.
Former secretary to the bar association of Sri Lanka Kalinga Indratissa condemned the attack and said that the government has a responsibility to nab the suspects. He said that law should take its own course despite the social standing of the culprits. Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Lawyers Association Senior lawyer Champani Padmasekara denounced the assault and called on the government to identify the suspects through speedy investigations and produce the culprits before courts. Chairman of Colombo law society Binara Gunasekara condemned the attack as the independence of the judiciary is paramount. Therefore he called on the authorities to apprehend the suspects.
