Lakhanda and Vasantham stage New Year Festivals

Several New Year Festivals have been held with the contribution of the Independent Television Network. Large crowds joined in these New Year celebrations.
The Lakhanda Sooryanjali Avurudu Vasanthaya was organized at the Thopawewa Vidyalaya Grounds in Polonnaruwa. Many traditional sports events were held. Many young men and women enthusiastically participated in the selection of the Lakhanda Avurudu Kumara and Kumariya competitions.
Minister Maithripala Sirisena and North Central Minister Peshala Jayaratne were in attendance. Also Chairman of the Independent Television Network Rosmand Senaratne, its Working Director P.G. Dassanayake and Lakhanda Deputy General Manager Ashoka Karunayake were present. The Lakhanda Gee Rashmi Pageant was held after the New Year Festival.
The New Year Festival organized by Vasantham TV was held at the Mallagam Maha Vidyalaya grounds in Jaffna. It was organized with the support of the Telippalai Pradeshiya Sabha and the Police. The support of the people of the area was received for the conduct of the New Year Festival.
Many traditional sports events and pageants endemic to Jaffna were among the highlights. Police Officers including the Telippalai OIC I.N.S. Kasthuriarachchi made a vital contribution for the success of the Festival.
ITN Board member J. Devapiran, ITN Deputy General Manager (Programmes) Vipula Ratnasiri and Vasantham TV Manager Murugesu Kulendran joined at the launch of the New Year Festival.
