Latin America condemns Israel atrocities against Palestinians
The Government of Ecuador confirmed on Tuesday its recognition of Palestine as an independent state with pre-1967 borders and urged the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) to stop the violence carried out by Israel against the Gaza Strip.
"My country recognizes the State of Palestine as an independent state with pre-1967 borders," said Xavier Lasso, the representative of Ecuador to the Security Council of the UN.
Lasso said that "two years ago, the Security Council welcomed the state of Palestine as an observer but progressive people in the world want to see the state of Palestine as a full member of this assembly soon."
Also, the Ecuadorian representative demanded "a forceful action against Israeli attacks on unarmed Palestinians.
Meanwhile, Bolivia and Nicaragua have condemned attacks by Israel.The Representative of Nicaragua to the United Nations condemned the slaughter vigorously against the people of Gaza while calling the international community to assist Palestinians to achieve peace.
The Bolivian representative, Sacha Llorenti condemend the Israel attack against the Palestinian people on behalf of President Evo Morales and called upon the Non-Aligned Countries (NAM) and the Group of 77 and China (G77) to intervene to cease attacks and hostilities in the Gaza Strip, where so far more than 600 deaths and thousands of injuries are recorded.
