Reason for alleged killing of Ja-Ela businessman revealed

Two police teams have been appointed to look into the murder to businessman in the Thudella area in Ja-Ela.The shooting took place at 8.30 a.m. when the businessman was travelling to the bank to deposit money.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Dalugama. The shooting took place as the victim was travelling to the Ja-Ela town along with his wife. Two individuals who had arrived on a motorcycle had blocked the victim’s vehicle after which a scuffle had also broken out.

The shooters however were unable to steal the money which was in the possession of the businessman. The businessman who was shot thrice was admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 11.30 a.m.

The magisterial inquiry into the murder was carried out on Monday afternoon. The seventy-two-year-old victim was a former member of the navy rugby team.
