Standard Chartered wins at Asian Banking and Finance Awards

Standard Chartered was awarded the ‘Sri Lanka Domestic Project Finance Bank of the Year’ at the 2014 Asian Banking and Finance Awards in Singapore. 200 bankers from almost 30 countries attended the event to carry away accolades of recognition for Wholesale Banking Services. Asian Banking and Finance made history this year with a record number of nominations from banks located in Singapore to as far away as Turkey.
Dushan Casie Chetty, Director/Head Local & Global Corporates, Standard Chartered who travelled to Singapore to receive the award on the bank’s behalf said: “I am honoured to have represented the bank and to have received this prestigious award on behalf of the team at Standard Chartered. The Asian Banking and Finance Awards attract nominations from the most distinguished bankers in the region, and it is an honour both to Standard Chartered as well as Sri Lanka to be recognised in this way before regional and global counterparts.”
Top executives representing winning banks all gathered at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore on 10 July, and witnessed the World Cup of banking and finance, and mounted the stage to reaffirm their position in the financial sector. Nominations in wholesale and retail banking sent by top Asian banks were evaluated by Antony Eldridge from PwC, Egidio Zarrella from KPMG, Mohit Mehrotra from Deloitte Consulting, Liew Nam Soon from Ernst and Young Advisory LLP.
It was a night not only of competition but of celebration as each bank present was a winner in their respective area. Standard Chartered as a Group also carried away several other awards in addition to Sri Lanka Domestic Project Finance Bank of the Year, as Standard Chartered Hong Kong won ‘Website of the Year’, the Gold Award for Branch Innovation of the Year, Standard Chartered China won the ‘Online Banking Initiative of the Year’, and Standard Chartered Bahrain carried away the ‘Credit Card Initiative of the Year’ and the ‘Domestic Retail Bank of the Year’.
