Union Assurance Toastmasters reach the peak
Union Assurance Toastmasters Club was chartered in 2009/2010, and has since provided a national/international level platform for Union Assurance employees with a flair for public speaking. Since receiving its charter, the UA Toastmasters have progressed from strength to strength under the guidance and direction of the top management of the company.
In the year 2013/2014, the club has received the highest level of recognition through Toastmasters International by winning the title of President’s Distinguished Club. In addition, for the first time since receiving its charter, the UA Toastmasters also have had the honour of winning the Golden Gavel Award (which is one of the most prestigious awards), Beat the Clock Award, Smedley Award and the Talk Up Toastmasters Award during the year.
This year the club is also proud to be the home club of the winning speakers in all four categories: International Speech Contest, Impromptu Speech Contest, Humourus Speech Contest, and the Evaluation Speech Contest at different levels. The UA Toastmasters Club has played a pivotal role in fulfilling the educational goals of members whilst helping them develop their communication and leadership skills – maintaining the high standards of the club.
An exceptional member of the UA Toastmasters, Bernadine Jayasinghe ALB, ACG was the UA Toastmasters Club President 2013/2014. She has the honour of being one of the youngest Toastmaster presidents in Sri Lanka – particularly in a club that has won so many outstanding awards.
In addition, she has successfully completed the Advanced Leader Bronze award and Advanced Communicator Gold award in Toastmasters and was recently elected as the Area Governor F5, District 82, Toastmasters International; and was the winning speaker of all 4 categories of speech in different levels. Bernadine Jayasinghe also had the honour of beingawarded the title of Toastmaster of the year 2013/2014, Division P, District 82 in recognition for her excellence, dedication and outstanding leadership.
