DSL takes over TVS Auto Parts
Sri Lanka’s leader in Auto Parts, Douglas & Sons Ltd. (DSL) announced that it has acquired TVS Auto Parts Ltd. The acquisition will facilitate better service provision for the needs of motorists, especially consumers of Indian-manufactured vehicles in Sri Lanka.
DSL Group of Companies Chairman/Managing Director Saroj Perera and TVS Auto Parts Chairman Sunil Wijesinha recently signed the documents pertaining to this acquisition.
TVS Auto Parts Ltd. is the sole agent and distributor in Sri Lanka for all 54 brands of auto parts manufactured by companies of the TVS Group in India. These include factory fitted Original Equipment (OE) manufactured for leading Indian Automobile Companies such as Tata, Ashok Leyland and Maruti etc.
Wabco (air brake components), BI TVS (hydraulic brake/clutch components), Lucas TVS (auto electrical components), Sundaram Fasteners (nuts and bolts), Sundaram Brake Liners, TVS Autolec (water/oil pumps), Wheels India (wheel rims and axles) and Turbo Energy Ltd. (turbo chargers) are some of the very prominent companies owned by TVS Group known to produce world-renowned brands of auto parts. Around 60% of OE parts used in many Indian made vehicles are made by companies of the TVS Group.
DSL is recognised as the leader in auto parts, tyres, and also vehicle batteries in Sri Lanka, with authorised distributorship of many world-renowned brands in each of the above segments. Such as, Continental and GT, which are world-renowned tyre brands, while Panasonic, Yuasa and Global are brands of batteries imported by DSL.
Where the auto parts segment is considered, DSL have been the distributor for Japanese brands such as NGK spark plugs, Mitsubishi belts, Exedy clutches, NPW water pumps and Union Japan filters. They also have the agency for brands such as LUK clutches, Meritor axles and Gabriel shock absorbers, etc. for Indian vehicles.
With the new acquisition, DSL will be able to offer a complete range of OE parts for Indian vehicles to be distributed through their island-wide dealer network of more than 400 dealers and DSL intents to operate TVS Auto Parts Ltd., as a separate entity.
