  • New store to offer customers greater convenience in accessing Airtel products and services within the northern region

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, recently announced the opening of its new flagship store – the Jaffna Brand Shop of Airtel Lanka. In a move to offer greater convenience to all its customers in Jaffna and the Northern region, Airtel Lanka’s latest Brand Shop will be located in a spacious central location within the Northern Peninsula at No. 180, Stanley Road, Jaffna.

Airtel Lanka Chief Customer Service Officer Romesh De Mel officiates at the opening

The latest flagship store was ceremoniously declared open by Romesh De Mel – Chief Customer Service Officer of Airtel Lanka amidst a large gathering of staff, customers and other well-wishers. Speaking at the inauguration De Mel stated, “The northern region has been our preferred market and Airtel has always been the preferred telecommunications service provider in this region. From our very inception, we have always placed our faith in this part of the country and we have also invested heavily in it.
“Not only have we ensured that we have excellent coverage, we have also sponsored and partnered various other community and social initiatives. This proves that we are committed to this region. We will continue to support and invest in this region in every way possible – thus ensuring better coverage, world class customer service and excellent account management for all our customers in Jaffna and within the Northern region.”
Airtel Lanka has prided itself as being a catalyst of change in Sri Lanka’s telecommunications industry. During the pre-war and the current postwar boom in the northern region, Airtel has found itself to be the preferred telecommunications service provider to the people of this part of the country. Therefore this outlet will act as the regional office for all north operations including the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar and Vavuniya districts.
Bharti Airtel Lanka commenced commercial operations of services in Sri Lanka on 12 January 2009, and was the fastest operator to reach 1 million customers in Sri Lanka. With its network footprint panned out across the country and capturing strategic ranking positions in various areas in less than three years of operations, Airtel has emerged as Sri Lanka’s fastest expanding network.
