Minister of Media Mahinda Rajapakse has decided to appoint Mr. Sarath Kongahage as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC). Mr. Kongahage will commence work as the Chairman of SLRC tomorrow (6th).

The Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) reportedly incurs a Rs. 10 million loss per day after Namal Rajapaksa had taken over Channel Eye for his political work.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) is encouraged to learn that Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court has ordered an inquiry into the alleged political victimisation and interdiction of eight media workers in the state-run broadcaster, the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).

The Supreme Court in Sri Lanka has ordered the authorities of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) to establish an independent panel to investigate charges against sacked media workers. Authorities were also ordered to include a retired judge into the panel.
