Sri Lanka’s Colombo International Book Fair kicks off with 400 stalls

ECONOMYNEXT – The Colombo International Book Fair (CIBF), one of Sri Lanka’s most widely attended literary events, commenced on September 16 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.

First held in 1999 at the Colombo National Art Gallery with 28 book stalls, the event is being held for the 23rd consecutive year with over 400 local and international stalls.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association, this year’s fair will be held for nine days from September 16 to 25 from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm, organisers said.

The book fair was opened by Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nihal Ranasingha.

In the 23rd book fare over 400 local and international stalls have been included including books of Stalls from India, Malasiya, China, Japan,Singapore,and UK which will be managed by mainly their local agents. (Colombo/Sep16/2022)
