Tamil Union and Kandy Customs ended the year on winning note

Tamil Union and Kandy Customs ended the year 2023 on a winning note defeating Ragama CC and Ace Capital CC in their respective exchanges of the SLC Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament yesterday.

Tamil Union won by 5 wickets over Ragama CC who were shot out for 92 in 26.3 overs with Ragama’s off shine continuing to bug an outfit boasting of several recognised players in the face of Ravindu Fernndo’s 4 wicket haul for 37 runs and Shiran Fernando 3 for 19 at the P. Sara International Stadium. It took Tamil Union just 15.3 overs to wrap it up with Ron Chandraguptha unbeaten on 39 despite the lone effort of Ragama’s Chamath Gomez who took 4 for 9.

Meanwhile Kandy Customs CC Ace Capital CC by 49 runs at the Panadura Esplanade. The Customs men got to 175 in 27.5 overs with Ravindu Ratnayake claiming 5 for 41and Rohan Jayatissa 4 for 30.

Ace Capital came apart folding up for 126 in 26.4 overs despite a half century by Pawantha Weerasinghe who made 56 with Kandy Customs Hasitha Nirmal causing the rot with a 4-wicket haul for 19 supported by 2-wicket hauls by Imesh Udayanga and Mithun Jayawickrama.
